Long thought of as a humble blending grape, Cinsault has been steadily coming up in the world of wine. Today, California winemakers seek out heritage plantings of this varietal not to blend, but to feature it. Here at Preston we have a long tradition of blending with this varietal (in our L. Preston Red), but we have also known how good it can be on its own since we first bottled it as a stand alone nearly 20 years ago. Aromas of strawberry pie jump out of the glass. In the mouth the wine is soft and exuberant, featuring flavors of strawberry jam and vanilla that give way to a crunchier pomegranate like finish.
