In 2015 we harvested Grenache on September 10th, from a block planted in the late 1970s and grafted to Grenache somewhere around 1990. A third consecutive year of drought left us with miniscule yields, but also served to concentrate flavors and allow Grenaches sometimes firm tannins to soften. The resulting wine is fleshy and seamlessly structured, leading with notes of sour cherry, wild strawberry and cedar on the nose. A juiciness in the mouth not always easy to achieve with a 100% varietal Grenache like this one and lively acidity complement a similar fruit profile, while an underlying intensity bolsters the wine throughout to a quenching, clean finish.
