2023Grenache

Another vintage, another exciting Grenache bottling as we continue to deepen our understanding of what this special grape can do on our property. The inclusion of some Carignane that we experimented with last year has been carried over, only now it gets the conditioning of the superlative 2023 vintage what a treat!
Much like was written about for the 2023 Mourvedre accompanying this shipment, the 2023 Grenache shows exceptional refinement, complexity, and length. The tightly-wound nose, which currently gains a great lift from decanting, leads with hibiscus petals and wild strawberry fruit, complemented by dried Mediterranean herbs and anchored by mineral notes of crushed black stone. A lively tension introduces the mouth; induced by a balancing act of silken and sumptuous texture, buoyant acidity, and a firm-but-gentle structure that stays out of the way until you realize its length and staying power. Flavors of tangy berry, jamaica tea, cherry cobbler and anise go along for the ride. GH
