Fermented in stainless steel keg.
Aged in glass carboy for 6 mos. Malolactic fermentation occurred naturally.
Faded coral, Memphis Group pink, Arizona flagstone.
Raspberry, white nectarine, confectioners sugar, fresh red chili pepper, grapefruit pith.
Quenching, piquant acidity, with a lingering textural finish.
The first stroke is peachy pink. It is the line that divides the spring sky and the blue-green hills. With me: a small linen canvas, brushes of all sorts, a rag with old paint, a glass water container and my rosé in a jam jar. I paint under a tree en plein-air as I look at the Berkeley hills in Cedar Rose Park.
As the pink line moves across the canvas, the surface absorbs the water out of my brush. I dip the brush in the water container and the water becomes a bright, peachy pink color in the sun. It matches the rosé in my jam jar. I look at the landscape and the painting back and forth, back and forth. My hand reaches for the rosé; I am ready to sip its fleeting sweetness and be surprised, again and again, by its tartness. A peachy pink liquid comes close to my mouth, and I stop. A different surprise: I smell paint.
