2014 Syrah

Field Notes

Winemaker Matt Says
Our 2014 Syrah was fermented whole cluster in macro bins and co-fermented with a modest amount of Viognier, which was also hand-picked whole cluster. The grapes were then lightly crushed by hand, punched down an average of three times daily and pressed when verging on dry. Barrel aging was in 225 liter oak (mostly neutral) for 14 months. Aromas are of white pepper, red cherry, saigon cinnamon, clove, and dried wildflower. This is a tightly structured wine with a keen initial mouthfeel that lingers through to the finish. Moderate tannins should bode well for long term aging.

93% Syrah, 7% Viognier
