2021 Vin Gris

The lovely 2021 vintage blessed us with some of the highest natural levels of acidity weve seen in the last decade. As a result, we were able to age a larger-than-usual portion of our Vin Gris in neutral oak barrels and allow it to undergo malolactic fermentation, resulting in a richer, rounder wine thats still lively and fresh. On the tasting-trial benchtop, we love the tank-aged portion for its crispness and purity, just as we love the heady hedonism of the barrel element. Blending them together and getting the best of both worlds is so, so satisfying. Light peach in color with pink accents, the nose shows charentais melon, watermelon rind, and sour-fruit candy, with faint notes of chalk and sea-air in the background. In the mouth, we find good purity and orderliness of flavor, with tangy orange citrus, more notes of melon, and just-ripe strawberry before a quenching finish. -GH
