It is difficult to describe the mouthfeel of a fantastic zin, which, with your permission, we humbly declare the 2017 Preston to be. There is structure, and length, for sure, but the wine is so plush, so juicy, that structure seems to collapse (or explode, perhaps). Most red wines have a certain chronology -- entry, mid-palate, and finish, at least -- but with zin it all bursts in at once; one wallop of pleasure. This wine, some of it made from vines planted in 1900, is classically brambly, filled with aromas and flavors of almost any vine-berry you can imagine, complemented by a hint of plum flesh, and buoyed by vibrant, refreshing acidity. But really, words cant describe -- its a feeling.
